Middlesbrough Council’s financial assistance packages are available to businesses that reside in a Working Neighbourhood Fund (WNF) area of Middlesbrough. Grants are available to help new and existing businesses in town but exclude takeaway food and retail businesses.

 

 

Start-up Grant

 

This grant is intended to promote and support new business entrepreneurship in the Working Neighbourhood Fund areas of Middlesbrough. The grant is available to businesses that are in the process of starting up or are in their first six weeks of trading. The grant is subject to available funding and up to a maximum of £1,000. 

 

Assistance is available for:

  • Capital equipment.
  • ICT software or hardware.
  • Marketing and promotion.
  • Other start-up costs.

 

The grant is not available for:

  • Salaries.
  • Mandatory or statutory training/accreditation.
  • Insurance.
  • Stock.
  • Business Vehicles.

 

How to apply:

  • Complete the Business Start-up Grant application form.
  • Provide a copy of your business plan/business case.
  • Attach three quotations for items that you need to buy for your business.
  • Provide one years cash flow forecast.

Capital Grant

 

This grant is available for businesses based or planning to move to a Working Neighbourhood Fund area of Middlesbrough. The business must have been trading less than three years. This grant can be used to help buy capital items that are essential to grow the business. Funding from the Council is available between £1,500 and £3,000 on a 50/50 basis i.e. a business must match any grant award. The business must be creating an additional job. 

 

Assistance is available for:

  • ICT software or hardware.
  • Tools to expand the business.
  • Items of machinery.
  • Marketing or promotion.

 

The grant is not available for:

  • Salaries.
  • Mandatory or statutory training/accreditation.
  • Insurance.
  • Business vehicles.
  • Stock.

 

How to apply:

  • Complete the Capital Grant application form.
  • Provide a copy of your business plan/business case.
  • Attach three quotations for items that you need to buy for your business.
  • Provide trading accounts for the last three months.
  • Provide evidence of your ability to match the Council's grant.
